Artist's Statement
We chose to write a children’s book and decided to be artistic in this way, to show optimism. We know that it is not very realistic in the way that it ends, but everyone needs a little hope, especially the little ones. This story is supposed to emphasize how urgent we need to be aware of the problems that are going on in our world. It’s supposed to show that not everyone knows what’s going on and that people need to be educated. It portrays that upcoming generations need to be knowledgeable in what’s going on in hopes that they can start to do things in order to “save” our Earth.
The ending, again not being very realistic, is supposed to be light-hearted for the children to understand but also points out where society needs to start. The message is that we need to treat our Earth better and we need to start doing that, NOW. And if we don’t, it shows the consequences that can happen in a way that everyone understands and the urgency.
