Artist's Statement
When it comes to the story of our world, it can be easy to focus on the negative aspects. And these things certainly are important to encourage the change that is needed. But for this story, I wanted to focus on the positive aspects—on what could be possible should we figure out how to do things right.
This short story follows two friends, meeting up in the big, Utopian city, where everything is as good as it’s ever been.
I wanted to capture the beauty and the hope of what the future could hold. It’s my idea—my hope of what a day in a sustainable and peaceful future could look like. It may not be for everybody, but I do believe that it’s important for everyone to imagine what that future looks like for them, and to keep it in the forefront of their minds. Let it be the goal that drives them. I firmly believe that, should each person do this intentionally, and then back it up with honest action, together, we will all create a future which has a place for every person. A future worth fighting for.
