Artist's Statement

Misteen English and I picked a poem by Sylvia Stults and composed an accompaniment that could fit with it, the result is a very beautiful and touching song! Our motivation for this project was wanting tobring attention to what  pollution is doing to our planet. We are both music majors and feel that music is one of the biggest ways to touch people, that is why we chose the route we did. First, we had to do someresearch and find a poem that not only shared the message  we wanted, but contained an element of pathos. Then, we met multiple times to create a structure for our song, followed by a chorus, verse, and a few harmonies as we did not want to distract from the message. We are very happy with the end result and hope you enjoy!
