Artist Statement

This project was designed to emphasize the impact of the positive and negative outcomes the Earth experiences due to climate change and the various influences we have learned about over the course of this semester. As you can see, the positive Earth is shown through what seems like a clean and flourishing environment, while the negative Earth is represented through pollution, littering, and more. From the course material we have learned that much of the world is affected by climate change, up to 85%. At times this can feel like a daunting realization and can feel overwhelming as if a bomb of information is blowing up in our faces, so I wanted to create an image that represents this along with the various outcomes of this impact. The vision behind this project was to bring awareness to what we truly desire as a society. What will we choose, the positive or negative outcome and what can we do to get there?

The medium used was acrylic on canvas.
