Artist's Statement

My collage outlines the threat to the coral reefs. At the bottom of the artwork, we can see colorful and healthy coral; as the coral moves toward the top, it dies. I found pictures of coral, graphs, and news headlines and used them to create this collage. I did this to represent the rising temperature of ocean water and how it affects the coral. With rising temperatures, the coral will bleach and die. I included graphs and headlines showing the importance of this issue. Coral reefs are very important to our ecosystem, and I wanted to bring awareness to how we are affecting them.
