Artist's Statement
For this piece I was thinking about the way modern technologies and civilization have taken over nature and the land that was once something else. Animals are living along side skyscrapers and structures. Humans have prioritized entertainment and personal comfort over the natural life that has been pre-existing. I’ve really been inspired by eye-catching art pieces,and wanted to show this idea through a bold, collage style art piece. The scenery looks bright and happy, but when you look closer you see that things are out of place. Elephants are walking down the street between skyscrapers, birds are flying in a flock with an airplane, polar bears are at the bottom of a waterfall turned water slide. We’ve become comfortable and developed, but at what cost?
