Deforestation; Don't Cut Trees out of Earth's History

Artist's Statement

As artists, Grant and I thought it would be helpful to have our work explore the intersection between humanity and the natural world. In particular, this current project focuses on the urgent issue of deforestation, and the devastating impact it has on our planet.

Through a series of digital media posters, Grant and I aim to raise awareness about the destruction of our forests and the importance of taking action to protect them. Using digital media we created images that highlight the beauty and complexity of the natural world, while also conveying the sense of loss and devastation that comes with deforestation.

These are meant to be a call to action. By highlighting the fragility and interconnectedness of our planet, we hope to inspire viewers to take action to protect our forests and the biodiversity they support.

Deforestation (Don't cut trees out of earth's history); Deforestation can lead to soil erosion and water pollution, as trees help to hold soil in place and filter pollutants from runnoff; many indigenous cmmunities rely on forests from their lifelihoods and cultural practices, and deforestation can have a devastation impact on their way of life; the united nations has designated march 21 as the international day of forests to raise awareness about the importance of forests and the need to protect them; it is estimated that if current rates of deforestation continue, the world's remaining rainforests could disappear within the next 100 years; efforts to combat deforestation include protecting forests through conservation, reforestation, and sustainable forest management practices.
