Artist's Statement

In this display of visual art, over 25 paper snowflakes are strung together on red string. These snowflakes are each different, and all precariously strung to create a bigger picture. This picture creates a moving commentary on the nature of snow and the red string of fate present in our world, as Utah gets long needed but overwhelming snowfall it is yet another sight of global warming. Global warming isn’t all found in fire and ozone layers, but also in snowfall and humanity’s shadow. We caused these problems, and our shadow looks over them.

This record breaking snowfall gives Utahns hope for the rise of the Great Salt Lake and the renewal of valuable wetlands, but the only reason so much snow is falling is thanks to changes in Utah’s climate from Global warming. This will cause flooding and alleviate drought. That Red string of fate is both a blessing and a curse, that people are watching happen.
