Monarchs Fly By

Artist's Statement

Butterflies have always been a favorite species of mine and I never realized that their existence could be at risk. Development, changes in climate, and pesticides have caused a decline in milkweed, which is the Monarch butterflies’ primary food source and host plant. So, my lullaby, Monarchs Fly By, is dedicated to the Monarch butterflies, their declining home and existence. The melody, lyrics, and accompaniment are light and simple to reflect the delicacy of these butterflies and their repeated migration traditions.

"Monarchs Fly By"

Lyrics:
Monarchs fly by, every season,

Their wings carry them for miles,

Home at last, hunger fill them,

Every season, Monarchs fly by,

Their wings carry them for miles,

Home at last, there’s no home though, but

Monarchs fly by, every season,

Even though, there’s no home.
