Artist's Statement

For my final project, I chose to do three watercolor paintings - one of a starry sky, another of beautiful ocean animals, and the last of a flower garden. The sky without air pollution, the ocean with some of the beautiful creatures that might not be there much longer unless we fight for them, and the beautiful nature that is being threatened as civilization grows. These paintings represent my hope for the future. When asked in class whether we are optimistic or pessimistic for the future, I said that I was optimistic, which was definitely the less popular response. However, the reason that I chose optimism is not because I think that everyone can keep living the way that we currently do and everything will be fine, but it is because I think that if we can all unite and take action, there is hope for the earth that we live in. There’s only so much we can do alone, but together we can be a force for good in the world. It is my hope that together, we can rebuild the beautiful world shown in my paintings.
