Artist's Statement

Our project, Ripple Effect, calls attention to Utah's Shrinking Great Salt Lake. The bison made from water-intensive and recycled materials, symbolizes the unintended consequences of human overconsumption and the impacts on wildlife and the environment. The material choice aims to provoke a deeper reflection on our role in nature’s delicate web and the urgent collective action required to mend it

This bison was created in my art activism class. I was very inspired by the conversations in CCA 3070 and led a group project that was focused on the local environment. We entered the sculpture into the Impact Art Exhibit and won first place.
