Artist's Statement
Life is all about choices and it's those choices that led us to the worldly state we are in currently and that was the overarching message I got from this course. When thinking about this project I was reminded of a short video we watched in the first half of the semester and it was a cartoon of a man walking and doing various acts like killing birds, walking over trash, etc. And the message in the video was so powerful and really depicted where the Earth and mankind was headed. That was my motivation for this project, I wanted to have a daily reminder that my actions matter. I love the ocean. I think it is a beautiful ecosystem that is being ruined by the actions of humans and so for the mirror I attempted to mimic trash falling into the ocean and everything on the mirror was made of recyclable materials just to remind myself and the world the change starts with us.
