Ethan Larson's Anthropocene project

Artist's Statement

I chose to use my experience in painting to help cast a light on the rapidly changing climate. Using a limited color palette to help convey the bleak future was a deliberate choice. Blues/gray are the colors I attach to the ever devolving situation we find ourselves in. I find the threat of extreme weather shifts a large motivator for me to change things in my life with the planet's best interests in mind. Using a coastal place as the setting felt fitting because these places will be affected most by changing weather patterns. I used a reclaimed piece of beadboard that was in the scrap pile of a remodel as well as acrylic paint for this project. It felt fitting to use a recycled board for this endeavor
