Artist's Statement

Throughout this class, I found the topic of food systems the most fascinating. It’s wild that agriculture, something so necessary for our survival, causes such an impact on the environment. The agricultural process is something I didn’t think much about before this class. I could just go to the store and buy what I needed, like these pears. I didn’t give much thought to all the work and the struggles that came from getting the fruit from the tree and to my table. I use colored pencil to render the pears. I aimed to make it realistic to show how real and raw the agricultural problem is
