Artist's Statement

For this piece, I wanted to focus on the endangered species that exist in the world currently. I know many often forget about the beautiful animals and plants that are at risk of extinction, so I wanted to capture that beauty with my favorite medium which is graphite.

I believe it is important to remember that biodiversity on this beautiful planet is being threatened by climate change and ignorance to these severe issues. I chose several animals and plants that are endangered, but this doesn’t even scratch the surface of the amount of total species that are currently on the path to extinction. My hope with this piece is that it will allow the viewer to remember these important issues.
