Biography
John Engler teaches classes mostly in research writing and creative writing. He has been teaching at USU since 2003, and has taught more than 200 classes and more than 4500 students. He also helps teach courses at universities in China with USU’s International Cooperative Academic Program, and works with the department’s Teaching Partnership Program for concurrent enrollments classes taught statewide.
John is a generalist who works in multidisciplinary studies, has published a variety of essays and articles, and had a screenplay produced as a full-length feature film. He’s especially interested in innovative, radical teaching approaches that combat an education system determined to create a generation of compliant followers of directions. Instead John hopes for a world full of thinkers, visionaries, innovators, creators, and all-around caring, compassionate human beings committed to making the world a better place.
