Undergraduate Math Club

The Undergraduate Math Club at Utah State University is a weekly seminar for undergraduates interested in mathematics and related areas. The club is an informal setting to learn some new math and meet some new friends. The club is open to all students, there is no need to sign up and you can come as you please.

The goal of the semester is to prepare for the Putnam Contest and the Intermountain Math Competition (IMC). The latter is a fun proof-based competition involving universities in the intermountain region which has taken place each fall since 2009. The IMC, which is comparable to a "mini-Putnam exam," uses only knowledge of calculus and high school algebra and is a great opportunity to practice your problem solving skills! The competition will take place on a Saturday morning before Thanksgiving break and will consist of seven problems to be solved over three hours.

  • Regular meeting time: Wednesdays 4-5 pm in ANSC 314 (beginning Sept. 10, pizza will be served)
