The Aggie Math Learning Center and Mathematics & Statistics department hire students to serve as recitation leaders, tutors, and teaching assistants (UTAs)/graders.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities vary depending on the specific role.
Recitation Leader
- Conduct small group recitation sessions to supplement classroom learning
- Hold office hours with students
- Grade coursework and exams
Tutor
- Work in the AMLC to assist students with homework for their math or stats classes
- Open to students from all majors provided they meet the minimum requirements
UTA or Grader
- Hold office hours
- Facilitate review and study sessions
- Grade course work
- Assist in course develpment
Qualifications
All students applying for employment with the Aggie Math Learning Center should meet the minimum following requirements:
- Cumulative grade point average | 3.2
- Semesters before graduation | 2 Minimum (4+ is preferred)
Students should also meet all of the necessary qualifications for their desired position by the time they will be employed by the Aggie Math Learning Center.
Recitation Leader
Mathematics Recitation Leader
- Completed Calculus One • Math 1210 (or higher)
- Completed the course that the recitation is for with at least an A-
- B+ or higher grade in majority of math classes
- B+ or higher grade in most recent math class
- Minimum six (6) hours of university level mathematics/statistics
Statistics Recitation Leader
- Completed Stats 3000 or higher
- Only Stats 1040/1045 is required if applying as a recitation leader for Stats 1040/1045
- Completed the course that the recitation is for with at least an A-
- B+ or higher grade in majority of stats classes
- B+ or higher grade in most recent stats class
- Minimum of six (6) hours of university level mathematics/statistics
Tutor
Mathematics Tutor
- Completed Linear Algebra • MATH 2270; or Differential Equations • MATH 2280; or Linear Algebra and Differential Equations • MATH 2250
- B+ or higher grade in majority of math classes
- B+ or higher grade in most recent math class
- Minimum of 12 hours of university level mathematics/statistics
Statistics Tutor
- Completed Stats 3000 or Math 5710
- Only Stats 1040/1045 is required if applying as a Stats 1040/1045 Stats Tutor
- B+ or higher grade in majority of stats classes
- B+ or higher grade in most recent stats class
- Minimum of 12 hours of university level mathematics/statistics
- Stats 1040 / 1045 only need three hours of university math/stats
UTA or Grader
Mathematics UTAs or Graders
- Completed Calculus One • Math 1210 (or higher)
- Completed one Math Course at Utah State University
- B+ or higher grade in majority of math classes
- B+ or higher grade in most recent math class
- Minimum six (6) hours of university level mathematics/statistics
Statistics UTAs or Graders
- Completed Stats 1040 or 1045 or higher or
- Completed Stat 3000 or Higher
- Completed at least one Stats Course at Utah State University
- B+ or higher grade in majority of stats classes
- B+ or higher grade in most recent stats class
- Minimum of six (6) hours of university level mathematics/statistics
