About Me
I am from Sri Lanka and earned my B.Sc. (Hons) in Statistics from the Department of Statistics and Computer Science at the University of Peradeniya. Before coming to Utah State University, I worked as a Research Officer in Statistics and Data Science and as a Biostatistical Programmer. In my free time, I enjoy traveling and watching movies.
Why I Came to USU
I chose Utah State University for my graduate studies because of its strong program in statistics and the opportunity to work with faculty whose research aligns with my interests. I was also drawn to the supportive academic environment and the chance to contribute to projects with practical applications in Statistics and Data Science. USU’s reputation for high-quality research and collaborative learning made it the ideal place for me to pursue my Ph.D.

Research Focus/Study
- Bayesian methods for extreme value analysis, with a focus on snow-load modeling and risk assessment.
- Applications of generalized extreme value (GEV) and generalized Pareto (GP) distributions in engineering design and climate risk analysis.
- Exploration of non-stationary models to incorporate climate variability and covariate effects in extreme value predictions, with applications to reliability-targeted snow loads.
