Maha Moussa

Maha Moussa, one of our PhD Statistics students, has won the National ENVR Student Paper Competition!!

The ENVR Student Paper Competition, sponsored annually by the American Statistical Association’s Section on Statistics and the Environment (ASA ENVR), recognizes outstanding student-led research that uses statistics to address pressing environmental challenges. The competition is highly competitive, with papers evaluated on environmental significance, methodological innovation, and quality of writing. Each year, ENVR selects only a small number of winning papers from a strong national pool of submissions. In 2026, Maha’s paper was selected as one of only three winners nationwide, and she will present her work at the Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM) in Boston, MA in summer 2026.
