First Semester Checklist

• Update your personal information in Banner and update emergency notification settings
  • Make sure your preferred phone number is correct. This is how we will try to reach you for
    any urgent or time sensitive matters
  • You can sign up for Aggie Alert Texts so you don’t miss any emergency notifications
• Get your student ID from the USU Card Office, located in TSC 212
  • Among other important uses for your USU student ID, a valid student ID can get you free
    tickets to most USU music events
• Meet with the Music Advisor
• Register for Individual Instruction & Pay Course Fees
  • Most incoming students should take Individual Instruction for Pre-Music Majors. Transfer
    students should work with their applied instructor and the music advisor to register for the
    appropriate course.
  • You must pay your Individual Instruction course fee before you can begin having lessons
    with your instructor. See the Registrar’s Office webpage for information about course fees,
    including due dates
• Audition for Ensembles
  • Audition requirements and procedures vary by ensemble. See the USU Ensembles webpage
    for information about the ensembles you’re interested in
• Reserve an instrument locker
• Pay for and schedule practice rooms
• Start collecting programs for your Concert Attendance requirement
• Get involved in music clubs and organizations

Beginning of Semester Checklist

  • You must pay your Individual Instruction course fee before you can begin having lessons
    with your instructor. See the Registrar’s Office webpage for information about course fees,
    including due dates
• Audition for Ensembles
  • Audition requirements and procedures vary by ensemble. See the USU Ensembles webpage
    for information about the ensembles you’re interested in
• Reserve an instrument locker
• Pay for and schedule practice rooms
• Schedule chamber rehearsals
• Visit the Music Office FAC 102 to get any keys you need this semester (locker keys, piano keys, etc.)

End of Semester Checklist

• Complete your IDEA Student Ratings of Instruction (SRI’s) before finals week
  • Personalized links will be sent to your USU email
• Complete your Qualtrics Ratings of Individual Instruction before finals week
  • Links will be sent to your USU email and QR codes will be posted in practice rooms
• Get your Concert Attendance approved by your applied instructor and turn it in to FAC 102
• After completing your recital, please help us out by removing any posters and flyers you posted
  around the building
• Turn piano keys in to the Music Office FAC 102
• If you are graduating or leaving USU, please return any classroom/office keys and prox cards to
  the Key Office (east of Aggie Ice Cream)
• Fall semester only – If you will not continue using your instrument locker in the Spring, please notify
  the Music Office so we can clear your reservation from the system
• Spring semester only – Clean out your instrument locker and return the locker key
  • Locker keys may be placed in the black drop box outside the Music Office. Please write your
    name, A-number, and locker number on the provided envelope
