Talk Description
Video projections create a sense of depth and expanded space on stage. Similar to placing a mirror in a room, projections can intentionally shift and manipulate our perception of space, environment, and even emotion.
The best projection design subtly shifts the viewer’s perspective, offering a different angle on the story or world. It involves creating narratives within images, separate from the script’s linear narrative, allowing images to tell their own stories.
Join professional designer Joshua Legate for a demonstration of the "fourth field" of live theatrical design. Through live experiments and audience participation, we'll explore the fundamentals of theatrical projection design and artistic expression, and witness how world-building and joy can be found at the intersection of science and art.
