Biography
I am a developmental biologist, born and raised in Colombia, but reborn and blossoming in the United States.
Teaching Interests
My teaching interests are diverse, reflecting my scientific background, curiosity, and generosity. I enjoy sharing my knowledge widely and helping others to learn how to learn. From peer-mentoring to technical training, my teaching interests cover career development, soft skills coaching, research with animal models, research with non-animal models, animal husbandry, developmental biology, evolution, marine biology, embryology, microbiology, animal physiology, and cell and molecular techniques.
Research Interests
I have multiple research interests. At the moment, my primary research focus is on craniofacial development and disease. Craniofacial defects are among the most common birth defects. In my lab, I use mouse and zebrafish models to understand the genetic, cellular, and molecular basis of these defects. I am also interested in studying these skeletal defects and neurodivergence simultaneously.
