It was very aligned with my life experiences and passions. I speak Korean, Chinese, and English and I’m raising bilingual children who are becoming trilingual. I’m deeply interested in how languages shape thinking and development. Through my coursework I discovered many advantages of the bilingual brain and that really sparked my enthusiasm to help others experience the same benefits through language learning.

Bryn Cole
For a long time, I was the only one teaching Spanish in the program. We also had students studying French, German, Arabic, and other languages. But that didn’t really matter, because we were all learning the same core techniques that could be applied to any language. That was the biggest thing that drew me to the program.

This degree is directly related to my current profession and will continue to provide me with the tools I need to improve instruction, student retention, and best practices in my classroom. Additionally, this degree opens other doors for me that would otherwise be impossible to achieve.

Working full-time as an EL Specialist and raising three kids keeps me busy, so the online format has been a perfect fit. It gives me the flexibility to manage my schoolwork around my schedule without worrying about extra time on campus or traveling.
