Graduate Mentor of the Year

The Outstanding Graduate Mentor of the Year recognizes faculty who have a record of excellence in graduate student mentorship. They are effective advisors who facilitate degree completion, model sound scholarship and ethical behavior, provide emotional support, extend constructive criticism, involve students in publishing and other professional activities, and prepare students for their careers after they have completed their degrees. The college will select two recipients, one mentor for Masters students, and one mentor for Ph.D. students.

Criteria

  1. Must be a current USU faculty member.
  2. Should have a record of excellence and significant accomplishments in graduate student mentorship at USU.
  3. Nominees will be evaluated on their contributions to graduate mentoring in the last five years.

Nomination Materials

  1. A letter of nomination of up to two pages from the department head or designee, which addresses the criteria listed above.
  2. Abbreviated CV related to the awards criteria. The College Dean’s Office will pull one from Watermark to be included.

Recognition

Recognized at the College Awards Ceremony; as well as at the USU Faculty Awards Ceremony.

Due Date

Nominations are due to the box folder provided by Arts & Sciences Dean’s Office during the open nomination window between December 1-15.
