Sagebrush Award

Recognizing a staff member who demonstrates exceptional service, dependability, and collaboration through a consistent commitment to supporting colleagues, faculty, departments, and the college. This individual goes above and beyond, willingly stepping up wherever needed to contribute to the success of the Arts & Sciences community.

A Strong Nominee...

  • Provides exceptional, dependable, and responsive service to students, faculty, staff, departments, or the College.
  • Consistently demonstrates a willingness to help, support, and step up for others, including when needs fall outside their normal responsibilities.
  • Builds positive relationships and collaborates effectively with colleagues and others across the College, contributing to a culture of teamwork, responsiveness, and service.
  • Demonstrates a consistent commitment to the success of others and the College, rather than simply completing their own responsibilities.
  • Has made a meaningful and lasting difference through their service, support, collaboration, or willingness to go above and beyond.

Criteria & Eligibility

  1. Must be in a current, benefit-eligible position and have been employed at USU for a minimum of two continuous years.
  2. Be in good standing with their respective department and the university (no disciplinary actions on file within the last three years).
  3. Demonstrates commitment to job excellence with evidence the nominee produces high quality work, proficiency, initiative, and dependability. Shows exceptional knowledge and skills, self-motivation, and a positive attitude.
  4. Communicates and collaborates effectively within or across workgroups, labs, offices, departments, or divisions within the context of position responsibilities; maintains effective working relationships with co-workers.

Nomination Materials

  1. A letter of nomination of up to two pages from the department head or designee addressing the criteria above and answering the following prompt:

    "Describe a specific example or examples of how this person has gone above and beyond in serving or supporting others. What was the impact of their efforts on their colleagues, department, students, faculty, or the college?"

Recognition

Recognized at the College Awards Ceremony. Winners will also be submitted to the Presidential Staff Awards.

Due Date

Nominations are due by December 1 to the Box folder provided by the ArtSci Dean’s Office to the Department Head.
