Biography
I am a developmental biologist, born and raised in Colombia, but reborn and blossoming in the United States.
Teaching Interests
My teaching interests are diverse, reflecting my scientific background, curiosity, and generosity. I enjoy sharing my knowledge widely and helping others to learn how to learn. Thus, from peer-mentoring to technical training, my teaching interests cover career development, soft skills coaching, research with animal models, research with non-animal models, animal husbandry, developmental biology, evolution, marine biology, embryology, microbiology, animal physiology, and cell and molecular techniques.
Research Interests
My research interests are primarily focus in craniofacial development and disease. Craniofacial defects are among the most common birth defects. In my lab, I use mouse and zebrafish models to understand the genetic, cellular, and molecular basis of these defects. I am also interested in studying these skeletal defects and neurodivergence simultaneously.
