Tribal Governments and Indigenous Affairs

Explore public service, policy, education, communications, economic development, and cultural-resource work with Tribal Nations. Tribal governments exercise sovereignty and set their own hiring and internship requirements. For U.S.-based placements, use the domestic planning route and ask your academic or HPI advisor whether the proposed role meets the relevant requirement.

Ask the host which projects would be useful, who will supervise you, and what community protocols and permissions apply. Academic credit or an international-experience designation must be confirmed by your program; working with a Tribal Nation does not automatically meet every international internship requirement.

Local Consulates and Diplomatic Offices

Explore consular services, cultural programming, language access, trade, and public diplomacy in Utah. Local leads are consulates and honorary consular offices; embassy internships usually require looking beyond Utah. Ask each office about current student roles, language skills, eligibility, supervision, and compensation.
