Alan Edwards
Alan Edwards has built a unique career that combines science, law, journalism, and innovation. After earning a bachelor's degree in Physics (1986) and a master's degree in Communication (1998) from Utah State University, he earned his law degree from Duke University School of Law and began his career as a patent attorney in New York City and Salt Lake City.
Along the way, Alan took an unexpected turn into journalism, spending 10 years as a reporter with the Deseret News before returning to the field of intellectual property. Today, he works as the Technology Commercialization Manager at USU, helping researchers protect their discoveries through patents and other forms of intellectual property and bringing new innovations to market through industry partnerships and startup companies.
