Schyler Odum

Schyler Odum, Ph.D. is a medicinal chemist and R&D scientist with experience in both academic drug discovery and industrial chemical development. He earned his BS in Biology and Biochemistry from Utah State, and Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, where he researched and developed potential new antibiotics to combat drug-resistant infections.

Schyler is currently a Senior Chemist at Frontier Specialty Chemicals in Logan where he works on the development and optimization of specialty chemical products. As part of a small R&D team, he applies expertise in organic synthesis, product development, troubleshooting, and process improvement to solve real-world challenges and bring new products from concept to production.

His background combines advanced scientific research with hands-on industry experience, offering insight into careers in chemistry, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and research and development. He enjoys sharing his experiences navigating graduate school, transitioning into industry, and building a career in science.
