Alumni consistently tell us their out-of-classroom experiences were central to their student success and career development. Internships, service learning, and immersive programs enrich course content, let learners practice new skills, and provide professional connections before students even graduate, but many students face economic barriers to participation.
The additional cost of transportation and professional clothing, the need for childcare, or the expense of studying abroad mean students sometimes opt out of experiences that have the potential to set them up for success in college and beyond.The Experiential Learning Fund is designed to remove these barriers that prevent students from participating in these expereinces.
It means the world to me to know that you found value in supporting students like me so that I could have this hands-on experience in order to gain insight into the world of archaeological research as I move into the next stages of my schooling and career.
If someone had told 17-year-old me, struggling in high school, that these are the experiences I would be having in a few years, I would not have believed it. Thank you for believing that students like me deserve chances to diversify our college experiences.
