Insect Tours

Observatory Public Viewing

USU Physics Day at Lagoon

Each spring USU Physics Day at Lagoon offers the chance for middle school and high school students to gather at Utah’s largest amusement park to “do physics”. The USU Physics Department, the Idaho National Laboratory, and a host of STEM sponsors organize a wide variety of physics-based contests and activities at all levels centered around amusement park physics. And each year thousands of dollars in prizes and scholarships are awarded to top students and teachers.

Youth Conservatory

For over four decades, the USU Youth Conservatory (YC) has trained aspiring piano teachers while inspiring young musicians to develop a lifelong love of music. At YC, pianists ages 2–18 receive private lessons and group music classes taught by USU piano majors at the Chase Fine Arts Center. Our program combines weekly instruction, group classes, and exciting performance opportunities. Students also participate in the Achievement in Music program, earning medals through annual examinations in sight-reading, technique, ear training, music theory, and performance. We look forward to making music with you!

Tri-State Band Symposium

The Tri-State Band Symposium is an Honor Band experience for the Tri-State's top wind and percussion players and their directors. Each year, the symposium brings together around 150 outstanding wind and percussion students from the region's finest high schools. Bringing War Home Project

Established through a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) grant and support from university and community partners, the Bringing War Home Project explores the experiences and legacies of armed conflict through personal objects and stories. Community members, veterans, military families, and civilians are invited to share meaningful artifacts that preserve individual memories and connect personal experiences to the broader history of war.

STEAM Expos, DRUMM Teacher Workshops, and Cultural Exchanges

STEAM Expos, DRUMM Teacher Workshops, and Cultural Exchanges are planned for the USU Blanding and Uintah Basin campuses on Sept 24-26 and Oct 1-3, respectively. Local school children are bused into the STEAM Expos where they participate in engaging activities and presentations with a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics flare. The teacher workshops focus on Data Science and provide opportunities for DRUMM MTFs to interact with other local teachers and USU faculty. MTFs contribute to STEAM Expos by leading activities or bringing and supervising students. The teacher workshops and other activities and excursions provide opportunities for MTFs to rub shoulders, share, and learn with and about local Native and non-Native cultures.

Local schools will receive an invitation to attend. ArtSci faculty and students are invited to register a booth or presentation/activity at the Blanding Expo. ArtSci faculty and students are also welcome to participate in the cultural exchanges planned for Blanding. Contact Eric Rowley to RSVP.

Court Interpreting Training Program – Free!

In partnership with the Utah Judiciary, the Department of World Languages & Cultures is offering a free Court Interpreter Training Program for qualified Spanish–English bilingual participants.
