For our final project, we decided to individually write a poem and play our respective instruments over it (Morgan on the guitar and Carlin on the piano).

What interested me most in this semester was observing and watching how people react and take action to the climate crisis. I noticed that there is a lot of pessimism and it’s easy to see why.

Something that impacted me this semester was the idea that everyone can contribute to a more sustainable society and that we can all do it in our own ways

For this final project I decided to write a poem highlighting some of my favorite animals and the challenges they are facing because of human influence.

Eat Mor Chikin* is a poster/brochure made as an information and commentary piece for anyone who consumes factory bred and “farmed” chicken.

This piece was written to show how speculative climate fiction is not just fiction. It is a warning. This story is based on actual events/experiences during the dust bowl which took place roughly from 1930 – 1940.

I love poetry and this earth so I decided to combine the two for my final project. My poem was inspired by the intrinsically breathtaking phenomenons that make our world so beautiful and enjoyable to live in.

My favorite form of art has long been poetry. I’ve always had a passion for it, which was begun by my Grandpa when I was very young. If any of his grandkids could memorize certain poems, he’d give them a five dollar bill.
